What is Give Miami Day?

Give Miami Day is one of the biggest annual online giving events in the United States. On Give Miami Day, anyone can make a philanthropic impact by collectively supporting local nonprofit organizations. We made history in 2017, raising $10.1 million for almost 700 local nonprofits. Over 31,000 donors spanning the city, nation, and globe participated in the multi-million dollar movement.

Give Miami Day 2022 is on Thursday, November 17th. The 24-hour event begins at 12 a.m. EST on November 17th and ends at 12 a.m. EST on November 18th.

On Give Miami Day, anyone can make a philanthropic impact by collectively supporting our area nonprofit organizations.

Throughout the day, individuals may view online profiles of hundreds of nonprofit organizations serving Miami-Dade County and make a charitable gift directly on givemiamiday.org. The Miami Foundation and our partners will maximize the community’s generosity by making a bonus gift for every donation between $25 and $10,000 received on November 17th through www.givemiamiday.org

Who can make a gift?

Anyone! This event is open to the public, and anyone across the globe may participate by making a gift at givemiamiday.org on Thursday, November 21st.

Is there a minimum or maximum gift?

The minimum gift amount is $25. There is no maximum gift amount. Please note: only gifts between $25 and $10,000 are eligible for funds from the Bonus Pool.

Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. Your gift and any fees you may choose to cover are fully tax-deductible. You will receive an itemized receipt from [email protected] to submit with your taxes after making a gift. Only receipts sent from The Miami Foundation may be used for tax purposes.

How does it Work?

The Miami Foundation and our partners maximize our community’s generosity by making a bonus gift for every donation between $25 and $10,000 made on Give Miami Day. For gifts greater than $10,000, the first $10,000 will be eligible for a bonus gift.

The bonus gift percentage is calculated by dividing the total Bonus Pool dollars by the total eligible gifts raised during the event. For example, in 2017, the bonus gift percentage was 6.28%. If an organization raised $5,000 on Give Miami Day 2017, their bonus gift was $314.

The Miami Foundation determines the Bonus Pool percentage at the end of Give Miami Day. After careful review of every gift made on Give Miami Day, an announcement will be made to participating organizations via email by December 31.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

Generously supported by the Miami Marlins, our prizes help your selected organizations earn extra dollars. These hourly and milestone opportunities range from $500 to $1,500 in extra dollars for the winning nonprofits. An organization is only eligible to win one prize. A full list of prizes will be available in November. For example, the 2017 “Lunch Time Special” prize was awarded to the nonprofit that received the most donations between noon and 1:30 p.m.

What is A Match Minutes

Match Minutes help your organization earn extra dollars by providing a 100% match for gifts between $25 and $100 made during the designated time frames. Each Match Minute has a pool of $15,000, generously supported by our sponsors. Once the pool is exhausted, the matching opportunity ends. A full list of Match Minutes will be available in November.

Gifts above $100 will receive a match for the first $100. Gifts made during Match Minutes are also eligible for funds from the Bonus Pool.

Match Minute dollars are distributed on a first come, first served basis, according to the corresponding time stamp on the gift transaction. After careful review of every gift made on Give Miami Day, participating donors and organizations will be notified of the match via email.

Fees

All gifts will be paid to the selected organizations net of credit card and transaction fees paid directly to credit card merchants and Kimbia, The Miami Foundation’s give day partner. Transaction fees are estimated at 4.50%. The Miami Foundation hosts Give Miami Day as part of our mission to promote philanthropy throughout Miami-Dade County and does not collect any fees for Give Miami Day.
